Team Banned from the 2015 Underwater Photography Global Championship

One of the teams which competed in  the Underwater Photography Global Championship 2015 and reached the 2nd place on the live judging phase, which took place in boot Dusseldorf on January 2016 , was banned from the competition on March, 2016, due to evidence discovered at that time, according to which  the team's portfolio doesn't comply with competitions rules.

Photographers have brought to the attention of the production that one of the images submitted by this team to the championship has been captured during 2014, while only images taken during 2015 were allowed to be submitted to the competition. Although the timestamp of the RAW file submitted by the participants indicated that the image was captured on March 2015, various findings indicated that the image was actually captured a year before.

The photographer, when inquired, admitted that the image was indeed captured during 2014 rather than 2015. The photographer apologized for the false timestamp and explained that although the image was captured during a diving trip held in 2014, the camera was set to March 2015  due to the diving trip being initially planned for that date.

Nevertheless, the team was banned from the competition and their  images were removed from the results. Since the Underwater Photography Global Championship only awards the 1st place winning team with a prize, no prizes had to be retunred in this case.

We wo uld like to repeat and urge all photographers participating in the World ShootOut to carefully read competition rules & regulations prior to registering to the competition and to only submit images that fully comply with the rules.

By registering to the competition, the photographer agrees to all competition rules and regulations as stated on the competition website.

The photographer, and the photographer alone, is responsible for following these rules.

The production is entitled to disqualify a participant who acts against the rules, displays undue conduct, has caused harm to another participant, or acted in any way that is contradictory to the spirit of the competition, as well as any other reason that the production team deems fit. The decision to remove a participant from the competition is final, undisputable, and does not entitle the participant to receive compensation or refund of any kind.
