Submit a set of three images taken in open water at night between November 2, 2024, and November 1, 2025.
Your images should feature subjects like plankton, jellyfish, symbiotic relationships, creatures, or behaviours. We also welcome environmental images that tell a story, such as those of subjects living on trash or drifting flotsam.
Photography and Editing Guidelines
• All subjects must be photographed in their unique and natural open-water habitat at night.
• Cloning or any form of manipulation that suggests trapping or stressing the animals is strictly prohibited.
• Minor editing is allowed, including:
o Up to 25% cropping.
o Global changes (e.g., adjustments to exposure, contrast, color balance).
o Minor backscatter removal. Please note that judges will consider the natural turbidity of the open ocean.
AI and Manipulation Policy
• The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for image creation, enhancement, or manipulation is strictly forbidden.
• We value the artistry and skill of traditional underwater photography. All submitted images must be the result of conventional photography techniques and be free of any AI-generated content.
