This category is open to amateur photographers only.
• You are an amateur if you have not previously won a prize in the World ShootOut competition.
• Amateur photographers can submit photos to the other categories as well.
• The following camera types are permitted: GoPro, mobile phones, and compact digital cameras with fixed lenses.
• Digital Single-Lens Reflex (DSLR) and mirrorless cameras are not allowed in this category.Owners of digital cameras with DSLR or Mirrorless systems cannot participate in this category.
- Photo Submission & Timeframe
Submit your best images taken between November 2, 2024, and November 1, 2025.
- Editing & AI Usage:
• We value the traditional artistry of underwater photography. Therefore, all submitted images must be the result of conventional photography techniques.
• The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for image creation, enhancement, or manipulation is strictly prohibited. -
Minor editing is allowed and may include:
• Color and contrast enhancements.
• Backscatter removal.
• Cropping up to 15%.
• Minor flaw corrections and background consolidation.

Editing that alters the main content of the image is not permitted. This includes moving, removing, or adding elements such as models or other foreign objects.
