"Gannets feeding: Gannet hunts pelagic fish like mackerel by diving into the sea from a height of 30 meters, achieving speeds of 100 kilometers per hour as they strike the water and pursuing their prey underwater.  With the fall of fish stocks, gannet birds have to fight against food competition for their survival. They learned to catch discard fishes from fisheries vessels. With a fisheries discard ban being introduced 2 years ago across Europe northern gannet may be affected by the ban. Northern gannets in this image were photographed feeding on discarded fish. Location: Shetland Island, UK. Equipment used: NAD7200 Nauticam housing with 2 strobes DS161 Ikélite."
